'How I Met Your Mother''s Alyson Hannigan Gets New Series

'How I Met Your Mother''s Alyson Hannigan Gets New Series CBS is apparently hoping to keep Alyson Hannigan in the family after the end of "How I Met Your Mother." The actress has been picked to star in "More Time with Family," a sitcom that the network has ordered to pilot. The show's lead will be comedian Tom Papa, and it will be produced and written by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa ("The King of Queens").

The pilot has some other big names attached to it, too: it is the co-creation of Papa and Matt Damon, who worked together on "The Informant" and "Behind the Candelabra." The pilot will also be executive produced by Ben Affleck through his Pearl Street company.

The show will center on Papa's character, a husband and father who changes careers in order to spend…well, it's all there in the title. Hannigan will play Papa's wife, a tough and efficient manager of the household.

Hannigan is in the market for a new gig after having played Lily on "How I Met Your Mother" for the past nine seasons. Before "HIMYM," she was best know for her roles in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and the "American Pie" films. "HIMYM" ends at the conclusion of the current season; producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays are currently working on a spin-off, "How I Met Your Dad," starring Greta Gerwig.
