'How I Met Your Mother' Creators on the Premiere: 'That's the Moment'

'How I Met Your Mother' Creators on the Premiere: 'That's the Moment' The season eight premiere of "How I Met Your Mother" brought us a surprise at the ending: the moment where Ted finally meets the Mother.

The episode, "Farhampton," ended with Ted sitting on a bench and waiting for a train, when a woman carrying a guitar and a yellow umbrella stood on the platform. We know that the Mother was carrying a yellow umbrella when Ted first met her, but we've also been faked out before.

However, the showrunners are promising us that this is no fake-out: "That's the moment," Craig Thomas told THR. "We can honestly say it. He's moments away from meeting her."

That poses some interesting questions for this eighth season. It's likely that we'll have to wait until the season finale before we see Ted actually meeting the girl with the yellow umbrella, just like how we had to wait until the end of the seventh season before we found out that it was Barney and Robin's wedding that we were seeing.

But even then, you have to wonder if the reveal will happen in full. It's not hard to see Craig Thomas and Carter Bays giving us one quick look at the Mother's face just before the season ends, but if the show is renewed for a ninth season, will it suffer as a result of the Mother's identity being known?

How about it, HIMYM fans? Would you watch a ninth season about Ted getting married to a woman who won't leave him at the altar?
