'Hunger Games' Star Arrested!
by Shannon KeirnanFollowing a string of celebrity DWI’s, including Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth’s most recent escapade, “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” star Jeffrey Wright has jumped on the band wagon.
The 47-year-old was arrested in New York last Saturday after NYPD officers saw the actor driving erratically in his Toyota Tacoma around 3 a.m.
“He was speeding and nearly caused an accident,” said a source who witnessed Wright’s driving.
When they pulled him over, they smelled alcohol fumes in the vehicle. Wright performed a field sobriety test, but failed. He was taken into custody.
Official charges are still pending.
Wright had attended the Tribeca Film Festival 2013 earlier in the evening, which screened his film “A Single Shot.”
In 2011, he and his “W.” co-star Josh Brolin were arrested outside a Shreveport bar after interfering with police following a disturbance caused by a crew member. Wright and Brolin were both pepper sprayed, and video leaked of Wright, lying unresisting on the ground, being tasered repeatedly.
Wright is also known for acting in a wide variety of film and television that include “Casino Royale,” “Angels in America,” “The Ides of March,” “Cadillac Records,” and “Syriana.”
Wright is also notably set to appear as Beetee in “Catching Fire,” which hits theaters November 22nd.
Co-star Elizabeth Banks teases fans that the sequel is “amazing.”
“It’s almost like an upgrade from the first film in that you really get to see the capital, you really get to see the Victory tour, and W. get to see all the districts. So just world building, in a bigger way... we really get to expand on it. You know, it's not just District 12 and the games, but also all the districts, and the capitol, and the Hunger Games. I mean, it's like a lot piled into this movie."
