'Hunger Games' Casts Chaff From District 11

Another “Catching Fire” cast member has been announced by Lionsgate. The studio is stretching this casting announcements as much as possible but it looks like we’re nearing the end of our wait, as the roles get picked off one by one.

This time around we have E. Roger Mitchell taking on the role of Chaff, the tribute from District 11. Mitchell has had a handful of small roles in movies like “The Crazies” and “Contagion,” but nothing to this extent, so well-done Mitchell for landing the gig.

He will be joining a cast made up of both big-name stars and those just out of the gate in the “Hunger Games” sequel.

Official casting thusfar has thrown in Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Meta Golding as Enobaria, Bruno Gunn as Brutus, and Alan Ritchson as the champion from District 1.

Sam Clafin is also in the running to play Finnick. While it hasn’t been confirmed, imbd.com lists it as “rumored,” so it looks like Lionsgate has pretty much narrowed it down. “Rumored” as well is Tony Shalhoub for the role of Beetee, which is a decision we are much more supportive of.

Mitchell will be joining returning veteran cast members as well, like Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, and of course Jennifer Lawrence.

For those of you who haven’t caught up on the books yet, “Catching Fire” deals with Katniss’ return to the arena, where President Snow is determined to take her out without getting his hands dirty.

The audience can also, presumably, look forward to a lot of dreamy glances and sighs cast Katniss’ way as she deals with her strange and confusing relationship with Peeta while she tries to determine her feelings for Gale. Ah, the serious drama of a love triangle.

And something else, there's something else, right?

Oh, yes. The whole, battling to survive thing, of course.
