Hugh Jackman Offered 'Snow White and the Huntsman' Role Opposite 'Twilight' Star Kristen Stewart

When we last left the ongoing saga of the dueling "Snow White" movies, Relativity's "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" had finally found its princess in rising star Lily Collins and its prince in Armie Hammer, who both join Julia Roberts in the production.

Meanwhile, "Snow White and the Huntsman" had its trump card in Kristen Stewart as Snow White, plus Charlize Theron as the evil queen. However, Viggo Mortensen, who had been in talks to star as the titular Huntsman, didn't complete a deal and is now out of the running.

Now Universal, the studio behind "Snow White and the Huntsman," has reportedly offered the role to perennial Wolverine portrayer Hugh Jackman, once again proving the old Hollywood adage: if you can't get Viggo Mortensen, get Hugh Jackman.

Sorry Hugh, that was low. I apologize. We cool?

Jackman was supposed to begin work on "The Wolverine," sequel to his "X-Men: Origins Wolverine" train wreck, but director Darren Aronofsky dropped out and production has been delayed. So, it's possible that Jackman could have the time to shoot "Snow White and the Huntsman" before the year is out.

These reports are preliminary, and Jackman has yet to respond to the offer. Time is of the essence for Universal, though, as it's in a race with Relativity to release its movie first: "Snow White and the Huntsman" might have more big-name star power, but being the first Snow White movie in theaters will give one movie a big edge over the other.
