Is Hugh Jackman the Next James Bond?
by EG
Hugh Jackman has certainly proven himself as a strong leading man in a wide variety of roles, but would he be a good choice to play the most famous fictional British spy? Jackman himself revealed this week that he was, at one time, considered for the role and if it was offered again, he just might take it.
"I'd seriously consider it," he said in an interview on Australian television.
Apparently, the producers of the James Bond franchise offered Jackman the role more than 10 years ago, but he turned it down. At the time, he was riding the success of his portrayal of the superhero Wolverine and was about to start work on X2: X-Men United, and he didn't think the timing was right.
There's no indication, though, that the Bond producers have Jackman in mind to take over the role of their lead character. Daniel Craig will continue to play Bond in the franchise's next installment, Spectre, which debuts on November 6. Jackman will play the pirate Blackbeard in Pan, which hits theaters on October 9. Jackman will also wrap up his protrayal of Wolverine in the third film focused on the character, which is set to premiere in March of 2017.
