Hugh Jackman Likes Being Wolverine

Hugh Jackman had said that the next “X-Men” film—the one following the one that will be released next week—would likely be his last. Now it seems that he’s not so sure, and he could go on playing Wolverine for the foreseeable future.

Jackman, on a promotional tour to pitch the upcoming “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” told The Associated Press that his previous speculation that he’d hang up his sideburns and retractable claws might have been premature.

“I think I might have overplayed my hand a little bit by saying I'm almost sure that the next one will be my last,” he said.

It’s possible that Jackman has other things on his mind, though. He was recently treated for a recurrence of skin cancer on his nose, something he expects to happen again down the road.

“I'm realistic about the future and it's more than likely that I'll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don't remember ever being told to put sunscreen on,” he said.

He will, however, be back as Wolverine in the next “X-Men” film, which is due out in 2017, and if he does indeed come back as Wolverine after that, we’ll be able to enjoy him in the role for many years to come.
