'House' of Blues? Hugh Laurie Might Leave Acting to Pursue Music

'House' of Blues? Hugh Laurie Might Leave Acting to Pursue Music If you're a fan of "House," you may have seen glimpses of Hugh Laurie's musical ability as he tickles the ivories from time to time on the show. What you might not know is that Laurie is quite the accomplished musician, playing guitar and saxophone in addition to the piano, and singing as well.

In fact, music might be the pursuit that ends up pulling Laurie away from acting. Laurie is set to appear on PBS' "Great Performances" series playing New Orleans-style jazz and blues, in anticipation of the release of his first album, "Let Them Talk."

Laurie has hinted that his love of music surpasses his love of acting. "This whole project and whole experience has really been closer to who I am than many things I’ve done," Laurie said on a press tour.

He had already hinted iduring an interview in May with Radio Times that he may be preparing for his exit from "House," music or no music.

“The end of that season looks like the end of the show. That’s as far as they’ve got me for.”

But Laurie might not be quitting acting to pick up music full-time just yet: Laurie had to perform live in front of a large audience in New Orleans for the PBS documentary, and wasn't completely comfortable with the experience. In fact, he said it was "without a doubt the most frightening thing I've ever done."

You'll be able to see the PBS special featuring Hugh Laurie's blues performance on September 30th.
