'House' Alum Lisa Edelstein (aka Cuddy) Has New Gig On 'The Good Wife'

'House' Alum Lisa Edelstein (aka Cuddy) Has New Gig On 'The Good Wife'House” says “goodbye,” and “The Good Wife” says “hello.”

Don’t get too used to missing Dr. Gregory House’s favorite taskmistress. Since Lisa Edelstein has ended her run on the acclaimed Fox drama “House” as Dr. Lisa Cuddy, TVLine reports that she’s been picked up for a multi-episode arc on CBS’ drama “The Good Wife.” She’ll be playing an attractive and intelligent lawyer with a knack for poker.

Her character is also rumored to share a past with Will (Josh Charles), though no specifics have surfaced about whether it’s professional or personal, or whether she’ll be butting heads with Alicia (Julianna Marguilies).

The series focuses on Alicia returning to her previous career as a litigator alongside old boyfriend Will when a sex and corruption scandal sends her former Cook County (Ill.) state’s attorney husband Peter (Chris Noth) to jail.

Edelstein spent seven acclaimed seasons playing Cuddy, the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital Dead of Medicine who was often the only thing standing between House (Hugh Laurie) and the worst possible legal and professional consequences for his ethics-crossing – but effective and life-saving – actions. Along the way, she also shared frequent romantic entanglements and tension with the crippled, cantankerous diagnostician who’s so hung up on her, he can’t resist meddling in her love life outside of their encounters.

The third season of “The Good Wife” and the eighth season of “House” both premiere this fall.
