'Homeland' Season 2: Watch the 'Social Network'-Esque Trailer
by Andy NeuenschwanderHow to make an emotionally wrought trailer: take some short clips and put them together, set to a choir doing a cover of a sad, lamenting pop song.
It worked for "The Social Network" back when it released its first trailer featuring a choir singing a haunting choral version of Radiohead's "Creep," and now "Homeland" is trying the same tactic. In fact, the trailer even features the very same choir!
This time, the choir is doing a cover of "Every Breath You Take," which not only sets a nice mood musically, but also offers some different layers of meaning as far as the conspiracy/surveillance/spy thing goes. After all, when you really listen to the lyrics of that song, they are a little stalker-like, aren't they?
As for the visuals, we get snippets of the second season: Carrie in a wig and colored contacts, Brody walking through the CIA, maybe people getting murdered, some crying here and there... you know, emotional stuff.
"Homeland" season 2 premieres on September 30 on Showtime. Check out the trailer below:
