Peter Jackson Confirms Orlando Bloom is Coming Back to Middle Earth in 'The Hobbit'

Back in January, unconfirmed reports had Orlando Bloom returning to Peter Jackson's new "Lord of the Rings" installation "The Hobbit," and bringing in $1 million for what was described as a two-minute cameo.

Though there has been no confirmation of the amount of screen time he'll be seeing or how much cabbage he'll be raking in as part of the deal, we can confirm that Bloom will, in fact, return to Middle Earth as Elvish archer Legolas.

Peter Jackson announced on his Facebook page minutes ago:

"Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I'm excited to announce today that we'll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older—and he doesn’t! I guess that's why he makes such a wonderful elf."

Elijah Wood, Sir Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Andy Sirkus, Hugo Weaving, Martin Freeman, Stephen Frye, and "Flight of the Conchords" star Bret McKenzie have also been confirmed for the cast.

Filming has already begun on "The Hobbit." Check out pics of Peter Jackson on the set, and watch a 10-minute behind the scenes peek at "The Hobbit."
