Hilarious 'SNL' Sketch Features The Rock as Live-Action Bambi
by Andy Neuenschwander
If Bambi had looked anything like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, we bet that hunter would've never shot his mom.
This hilarious "Saturday Night Live" sketch features Johnson playing a live-action version of Bambi, who is hell-bent on revenge after losing his mother to a hunter. If you were a Disney fan as a kid, you know the scene.
Joining Johnson in the sketch are Taran Killam as Vin Diesel, Jay Pharoah as Tyrese Gibson and Cecily Strong as Michelle Rodriguez, who of course play Flower, Thumper and Faline.
Johnson hosted "SNL" over the weekend in part to promote the upcoming release of "Furious 7," the latest in the "Fast & Furious" franchise and the last to feature Paul Walker, who died in a car crash while the movie was still in production.
The sketch mocks the current trend for Disney to take on live-action versions of animated classics: "Cinderella" and "Maleficent" are the most recent, while "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Jungle Book" are due out in the next couple of years. Although a live-action "Bambi" might seem ridiculous, Disney is currently developing a live-action "Dumbo," so this might be as far-fetched as it seems.
