Here's Melissa Benoist In Her (Thankfully Modified) Supergirl Costume
by Andy Neuenschwander
Supergirl now officially has her super-outfit!
CBS has released a promotional photo of Melissa Benoist in her official Supergirl costume in anticipation of the network's upcoming series. It's pretty much the same as Supergirl's traditional costume, but with one significant change.
Yes, Supergirl's legs are covered. And yes, that is a good thing.
Think about it: you're the last daughter of Krypton, you're using your incredible superpowers to fight evil on Earth, but you keep having trouble because your skirt won't stay down. Yeah, that's pretty much the reality that Supergirl has dealt with in the comic books.
Benoist's outfit includes some much-needed tights, and also takes on the color scheme of "Man of Steel" with a slightly darker red and blue than the usual bright primary colors associated with Superman and Supergirl.
If the style looks familiar to you CW fans out there, that's because it was designed by Collen Atwood, who made the costumes for "Arrow" and "The Flash" as well, two other DC Comics properties on TV.
Let's just all breathe a sigh of relief that they didn't make a mistake as big as NBC's with their Wonder Woman redesign.
