'Hell's Kitchen' Season 10, Episode 17 Recap - '5 Chefs Compete'

'Hell's Kitchen' Season 10, Episode 17 Recap - '5 Chefs Compete' The field is down to five, and somehow Clemenza is one of the group. Seriously, how is he still here? Ramsay calls them all down to the kitchen to watch him make chicken parmesan, which Clemenza tastes and says (off-camera) that he could do better. Yeah. I'm sure.

The challenge for the morning is this: create the same chicken parm, but do it only by verbally instructing an inexperienced student. These students are all former Miss Teen USA winners, who are presumably now not teens. We can only hope, considering the way they're being leered at by everyone, including Christina.

Oh good, the models get talking head segments. There is undoubtedly gold in that prospect. It mostly comes from Barbie's partner, who is running way behind and marveling at how harrrrrrd this isssss.

The teams do surprisingly well with the plating, but more than one team puts on too much mozzarella. Ultimately it comes down to Barbie and Dana, with their partners Hillary and Allie. Barbie ends up winning, which I guess proves that slow and steady (and obnoxious) wins the race.

Barbie picks Justin to go with her on the reward, which involves driving Ramsay's Maserati convertible around. Surprising choice from Barbie, but my guess is she's attempting to ally with clearly the strongest other competitor in the kitchen. They kayak on the Venice canals, which is probably the crappiest reward ever, so the editors try to play up the sex at lunch.

Clemenza keeps talking a big game, considering the theme of the night is Italian. But then he goes ahead and pounds the chicken for the night pancake thin, and gets an earful about it. The dinner service hasn't even started, and already he screwed up. Amazing.

The Dinner Service:

- Clemenza is a mess once again, but actually manages to put out some perfect flatbreads.

- Barbie follows that up with some perfect butternut squash risotto... but follows THAT up with a terrible one.

- And then, she follows up with an even worse batch, which Christina says tastes like "cheese soup."

- Finally she puts out a decent batch, and Ramsay keeps her in the kitchen for now.

- Dana starts slipping on the meat station, and Ramsay puts Justin on the case.

- Christina burns and underseasons her garnish. It's GARNISH.

- Ramsay bets Barbie and Clemenza $100 that they'll screw up the last table. Sure enough, they do: Barbie puts the wrong portions in her capellini.

That was a bit of a disaster. The remaining five have to nominate one, and it's clearly between Clemenza and Barbie. Ultimately they can't decide, and Ramsay hears from the both of them... and ends up booting Clemenza out the door. Finally. Finally.

Eliminated: Clemenza

But before the end of the episode, the chefs spot a figure in their dorms that surprises them. Who is it? Guess we'll find out next week.
