Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton Split Up

One of Hollywood's power couples has called it quits.

Actress Helena Bonham Carter, 48, and director Tim Burton, 56, have ended their 13-year relationship together as confirmed by E! News. Though the two were together for 13 years, they never married.

The couple also has two children together: Billy, age 11, and Nell, age 7.

The couple's reps confirmed the split and noted that the breakup happened earlier this year: "Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children. We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."

Burton and Carter were likely keeping the split secret for many reasons, but it's a practice of celebrity couples to go public with breakups like this right before the holidays in order to avoid a flood of press and paparazzi.

The director and actress have worked together on seven different movies, including "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," the (first) reboot of "Planet of the Apes," "Big Fish," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Alice in Wonderland," "Dark Shadows" and the animated "Corpse Bride."

Currently, Bonham Carter is filming a sequel to "Alice in Wonderland," however Burton is not directing. He is, however, on board as a producer.
