Pretty Pretty Good: Watch the New Trailer for Season Eight of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' (Plus: Bonus Featurette)

Pretty Pretty Good: Watch the New Trailer for Season Eight of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' (Plus: Bonus Featurette) I've fallen out of watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on a regular basis, I have to admit. The fifth season finale was one of those that was so perfect that I couldn't really see the show continuing on from there.

But I do really admire that the show seems to have pretty much stayed the course, delivering more of the same year after year. I know that sounds simple and lazy, but the truth is that most sitcoms fall into a pattern of changing up the formula in cheap, artificial ways that never stick, and the result is a constant feeling of being cheated.

Anyway, that's the way the last couple of seasons of "The Office" felt (remember when Jim was co-manager for a week or so? Exactly).

"Curb" does have the advantage, as "Seinfeld" did, of making the lack of change or growth in its lead characters the entire point. The whole arc of the series, for however long it runs, becomes a weird sort of existentialist statement on the pitiful things on which we've chosen to focus our lives.

So again, upon viewing this trailer, I was very heartened to find that the clips could have just as easily come from season three as they could season eight.

The trailer for season eight has Larry back in New York (instead of L.A.) where he really belongs, and he's as cranky as ever.

The trailer includes cameos by "Ambiguously Gay Duo" creator Robert Smigel, Michael J. Fox (who will have a recurring role this season), Ana Gasteyer, Brett Gelman and Rich Sommer. The new season will bring back the usual cast (including Susie Essman, Jeff Garland and Wanda Sykes), with Ricky Gervais and Rosie O'Donnell also appearing in guest roles.

Season eight of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" premieres Sunday, July 10 at 10 EST on HBO.
