HBO Producing Miniseries About 2016 Presidential Campaign

Remember how much you enjoyed watching the 2016 presidential campaign play out? Well, soon you'll be able to relive that joy with a new miniseries being produced by HBO. The dramatic recreation of the Trump/Clinton battle will be produced by the team that brought you Game Change, a dramatization of the 2008 presidential campaign.

Like Game Change, this new miniseries will be based on a book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. Unlike Game Change, the new project will stretch over several episodes instead of being a single feature-length film.

There's no word on a premiere date for the miniseries; Halperin and Heilemann have not even completed their book project yet. The good news is that Game Change didn't air until 2012, a full four years after the end of the campaign it depicted.

That means it will probably be years before the new miniseries is ready for air, giving us plenty of time to forget that we hated every minute of the 2016 campaign and never wanted to hear about it again.

There's also no speculation yet about who will play the key roles in the miniseries. Alec Baldwin has already said that his days of playing Trump on Saturday Night Live are numbered, so we probably can't count on him.
