'More As the Story Develops': Aaron Sorkin To Produce New Cable News Drama Pilot for HBO When Keith Olbermann left MSNBC with a hastily announced and controversial exit last week, rumors flew that he may end up working with Aaron Sorkin on a new project. Sorkin is in the running for an Academy Award for the writing he did on “The Social Network,” and he’s perhaps best known for creating the hugely popular “The West Wing.” Oh, and his crack problem.

Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that HBO has ordered a pilot for a new dramatic series Sorkin is producing about cable news. Early reports say the show is tentatively titled “More As the Story Develops.

Sorkin told BBC News that he has spent weeks trailing cable news anchors like Olbermann and Chris Matthews, as well as acting like “a fly on the wall” at Fox News and CNN.

Sorkin said that he was extremely excited to tell the story of an industry that “in America is held in at least as much contempt as the government.”

This would not be the writer/director’s first foray into a behind-the-scenes show on the television industry.

He also penned “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” a show that received a warm critical reception and was nominated for several Primetime Emmys, but quickly fizzled in the ratings. “Studio 60” was cancelled after 2 seasons and 22 episodes.

Sorkin is also working on an adaptation of a book called ”The Politician” by former John Edwards aide Andrew Young. Young famously claimed paternity of Edwards’ lovechild with mistress Rielle Hunter, in an effort to protect the aspiring Presidential candidate from significant baby mamma drama.

The film will be Sorkin’s directorial debut.
