HBO Now Is Coming to Android This Summer
by Andy Neuenschwander
The cheers from fans everywhere as HBO announced its standalone streaming service HBO Now earlier this year quickly turned to grumbling as it was revealed that HBO Now would be exclusive to Apple products for the near future.
That left a lot of non-Apple customers stuck in the same situation they had been in: with no cord-cutting option that would allow them to legally watch HBO shows.
However, that problem will soon be resolved. Google announced today that HBO Now will be coming to Android devices this summer, including Android phones, tablets and Chromecasts.
The pricing will be the same as other customers with a $14.99 per month price tag, and will include new and previous episodes of all of HBO's original shows, as well as movies, documentaries and so on.
Though an exact date has not been set, it's likely that the current season of "Game of Thrones" will likely come to a close before Android users get the app. However, they'll be able to catch up once the app is released, and it should be available in time for most of the second season of "True Detective."
