Hawkeye Might Be in 'Captain America 3,' Says Jeremy Renner
by Andy NeuenschwanderAre we finally going to get to know Hawkeye a little better in "Captain America 3?"
According to Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in "The Avengers" (and briefly in "Thor"), the character might show up in some capacity in the third Captain America movie.
"There are rumblings of [a Hawkeye appearance in] Captain America 3," Renner told Collider. “I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man. I’m trying to stay home and I can’t."
That "staying home" is likely because of the birth of Renner's daughter, Ava Berlin, last year. But it's definitely not going to be easy for Renner to avoid responsibilities: He has a role in the new "Mission: Impossible" movie and is due for another Bourne sequel in the next year or two in addition to his Marvel role, which already includes "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
Still, it would be nice for Hawkeye to show up a bit more. After all, he was barely present in "The Avengers" in a non-mind-controlled state, and his relationship with Black Widow seems like one that Marvel (and Joss Whedon) want to explore.
"Captain America 3" would be a good opportunity, too. We got a much better sense of who Black Widow is with her role in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and having her there helped buoy a movie led by one of the more boring Marvel heroes. Cap is beloved, sure, but he's a bit too much of a boy scout for the current cinematic landscape.
With the third Captain America movie not due out until 2016, Renner might have at least a little time at home before he picks up the bow and arrow again, so here's hoping that's enough to bring him back.
