Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg Coming Back for Indiana Jones 5

We know that Harrison Ford will never again play Han Solo, but that are a few other legendary characters that he's still able to bring back to the big screen. Indiana Jones is one of those characters, and this week Disney, the studio that currently owns the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise (as well as most other major movie franchises these days), confirmed that Ford will return to the role in the upcoming fifth installment. Steven Spielberg will also return to direct the film.

Early buzz about the film suggested that producers were trying to get Chris Pratt on board the project, leading to speculation that Pratt could replace Ford as Indiana Jones in a reboot of the franchise. Now we know that the character will still be played by Ford, but there's still a chance that Pratt could join the cast in a different role.

The news of Ford's involvement in the project brought some relief for fans who worried that a rebooted franchise might run off the creative rails, but those fans should take note that both Ford and Spielberg were also involved with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, so there's no guarantee that the pair will make the project a good film. The good news, however, is that neither George Lucas nor Shia LaBeouf will be involved in the new film.

The fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise is scheduled for release in July of 2019.
