Gwen Stefani May Step in as Christina Aguilera Leaves 'The Voice'

Gwen Stefani May Step in as Christina Aguilera Leaves 'The Voice' Popular singing show "The Voice" will be seeing some new faces on the judge panel this year, although not all of them are permanent, so don't get too attached.

With current mentor/coach Christina Aguilera set to give birth later this year, NBC has reportedly signed a 1-year contract with "No Doubt" lead Gwen Stefani to fill the empty seat.

It's not the first time Stefani was set to appear on a judge's panel. In 2012, the red-lipped lady was set to replace judge Steve Jones on "X Factor," but the change-up never happened. Will this decision stick?

While NBC wanted to keep Aguilera, according to TMZ, the 33-year-old singer declined.

Don't worry, "Voice" fans. Although she intends to take a hiatus, the "Burlesque" singer and actress does have every intention of returning to her position in the future. When NBC asked Aguilera to stay, she reportedly claimed it was already too difficult... and since she'll be nearly at the end of her pregnancy term by the time filming starts up again, we can understand why she might have opted out. This is her second child and her first with fiance Matt Rutler. The couple announced their engagement in February, about a week before news of her pregnancy hit. The two are expecting a girl.

If the rumors are true (NBC has not yet released an official statement), then 44-year-old (yet somehow ageless) Stefani will have company of another new judge, Pharrell Williams. Williams has already been slated to replace exiting judge Cee-lo Green for season 7.

The two will work alongside returning judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine... at least, at this point. New rumors suggest Levine might also be leaving the show, which is "all his decision" according to sources close to the singer.

He'd better decide soon. Filming for the new season begins in June.
