Guess Who Just Got the Post-Super Bowl Time Slot? (Hint: It's Not 'Glee')

Guess Who Just Got the Post-Super Bowl Time Slot? (Hint: It's Not 'Glee') Last year, Fox had the rights to the Super Bowl telecast, so they got to choose which worthy TV show in need of a ratings boost got to follow the Big Game. They went with "Glee," which didn't really need the ratings so much, and put out the actually rather awful episode "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle." Not the best example of the show at its finest, but it brought in 26.8 million viewers, so who's complaining?

This year, NBC gets the honors, and they have already picked out the show that they're going to air directly after the game, giving it the biggest lead-in of the year. So which show did they choose?

Answer: "The Voice."

The decision makes perfect sense. Anyone who saw the advertising campaign leading up to the premiere of "The Voice" knows exactly how much NBC wants this show to succeed. Not to mention the fact that the network hopes to make the show a serious contender against the likes of "American Idol."

At that point, "The Voice" will be in its second season (I guess someone is getting renewed!) and may or may not have already picked up a loyal following. As someone who watches "American Idol" and seethes at the ridiculous amount of dilly-dallying, product placement, and shameless self-promotion from guest artists, I find the purity of "The Voice" refreshing and entertaining.

Granted, I would have loved to see a show like "Community" get that post-Super Bowl timeslot so that it could finally get the respect it deserves. Dan Harmon 4 lyfe!
