'Guardians of the Galaxy' Aims to Brings on Zoe Saldana

The arguments for why bringing Zoe Saldana into “Guardians of the Galaxy” are pretty obvious.

1) Obviously, she’s an actress well-versed in space films. She rocked in “Star Trek” and will no doubt do so again in May’s “Star Trek: Into Darkness.”

2) She’s comfortable being a different color. “Avatar,” anyone?

3) Oh, yeah… and she kicks butt.

It’s no wonder that Marvel is trying to bring the stunning lady to their new “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Gamora.

Gamora is described as a green, humanoid assassin known as the deadliest woman in the universe, and the last of her species after they were exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. The adopted daughter of Thanos (that creepy villain who popped up in the end of “The Avengers”), she has superhuman strength and speed, along with a rapid healing ability.

In the film she would play the love interest of Adam Warlock.

Currently she is only in negotiations for the role, but if she signs on, she’ll be joining the likes of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Dave Bautista (WWE) as Drax. Tree-man Groot and Rocket Raccoon have yet to be cast.

The film, which is set to begin filming in June, is directed by James Gunn and should be hitting theaters in August of 2014.

Until then you can catch Saldana in the “Star Trek” sequel, or check her out beside Christian Bale in “Out of the Furnace.”

She will also star in “Avatar” 2 and 3, which should arrive in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
