Grumpy Cat Gets Own Movie

You’ve read that right, the internet’s beloved Grumpy Cat has managed to get her own movie.

The Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, is being pitched for a film much like “Garfield”, including the power of speech. It was only a matter of time before this famous feline got the star treatment, as she has been warming the internet’s heart since she first became a meme a few years ago.

Her agents have been busy, booking gigs for the not-really-grumpy cat on several TV shows, including “NBC TODAY Show”, “Anderson Cooper 360”, “Good Morning America”, “The Soup”, “VH1 Morning Buzz”, “CBS Evening News”, “USA Today”, and even “TMZ”. She has since been named the most influential cat of 2012, and the most important internet meme of 2012.

The cat has also been merchandised and marketed before, featuring in various Friskies commercials, and merchandise at Wal-Mart, Hot Topic, Thinkgeek, and more.

Not much is known about the movie yet, but it’s been put on top priority for the production company, New Line Cinema, and Will Ferrell and Jack Black are signed on to star in it, Todd Garner is attached to direct, and Mark Steilen is attached to write.

The movie will likely be targeted at the younger generation and draw in entire families. “We think we can build a big family comedy around this character,” the director said. However, if “Garfield” is any indication, having a grumpy cat isn’t enough.

No word on a release date yet, but make sure to check Yidio often for updates.
