'Grey's Anatomy' Goes 'Glee,' Plans Musical Episode

'Grey's Anatomy' Goes 'Glee,' Plans Musical Episode What do you do when a music show like "American Idol" is beating you in the ratings? Throw a little music into your own show, of course!

That's exactly what "Grey's Anatomy" will do in their first episode back from hiatus, on March 24th. The hospital drama has a musical episode in store, which means we'll be seeing the doctors of Seattle Grace singing and dancing in the halls (and maybe even in the OR).

Will it work? It has a chance: many of the cast members of "Grey's" have a background in theater, so some of them might have dabbled in musical theater as well. Callie (Sara Ramirez) will be a star of this episode for sure: Ramirez has a background in musical theater, and definitely has the pipes to belt a few numbers.

In fact, she won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.

Fans of Addison will be pleased to hear that Kate Walsh will be making an appearance in this episode as well, and will be singing a ditty herself.

Also notable: Shonda Rhimes has said that the songs in the episode will be music that has already been heard on "Grey's Anatomy" in the past. This won't be an original music episode like the "Scrubs" musical, rather it will be like an episode of "Glee," performing cover songs. Odds are good that the big finale will be "How to Save a Life" by the Fray, but we got a bit of a preview of Callie singing "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.
