Episode Gossip Girl Season 4, Episode 15 It-Girl Happened One Night Recap Blair Waldorf makes surviving Valentine's day bearable.  She is the antithesis to Serena van der Boobie's "I can't bear to be alone" schtick and in the end, Blair finds herself on a date with the person least likely to turn her Valentine's day around.

Though I'm not especially psyched that she and Daniel Humphrey are making a love connection, it was a storyline I appreciated.  Rather than pout alone in a Black Label dress, Blair channels that woeful energy into something productive, like her two-year plan.

While Serena just wants to live like a lovesick bohemian, Blair knows that the early bird catches the worm.  No lounging around in a Brooks Brother non-iron and grey socks-pulled-up-past-her-calves for this go-getter.  Blair Waldorf will eschew the sad-sack rituals her fellow singletons so devoutly observe each February 14th.  It's time to be fabulous and busy, damn it!

Armed with her gold brocade blazer and a mouthful of zingers to kill the love buzz infecting so many on this dreadful day, Blair took a moment to listen to Serena's saddy-cakes Valentine's convo.

Blair asked, "What about you and Ben?  Must be...very special for him, spending Valentine's Day with someone other than his celly."

This dig went right over Serena's head, who insisted she and Ben would spend the blessed day apart, lest they put too much pressure on February 14th.

Then Serena suggests she and Blair do a friendship spa day, complete with mani-pedis and stories about Ben.  Blair has better things to do than to be tricked into such tom foolery.  She has a magazine to run. I spy holly and garland on Madison Avenue, location scouts.  Kindly ask Ralph Lauren to put up a few hearts next time.

Blair and Reina could have easily agreed to another night of "Shadowing The Socialite" instead of Valentine's Day.  Sometimes I think the writers assume van der Boobbies is just as dumb as the viewers do.  When Serena suggested Reina cancel plans allowing Blair to follow her around for a night because it would hurt Blair to see Reina with Chuck, she didn't have the brain power to suggest an alternative.

Serena knew how important this project was to Blair, and yet all she could think about was Blair's immediate availability for friendship massages.  But when Blair finds a note from Reina thanking Serena for the great advice, Blair goes into saboteur mode and plots her revenge.  It's like knocking over a toddler's sand castle.

Alas, Blair takes her sabotage too far and humiliates Serena at Chuck's part by outing her relationship with Ben, the ex-con/Serena's former teacher. How classy of the W videographer to cut the tape as Serena's socially inferior boyfriend is exposed.  Gasp!  He's the hired help.

Unfortunately, the last laugh is one Blair.  Once upon a time she thought Chuck was using Reina for business purposes.  She found out the hard way that Chuck is falling for his new lady.  Fear not, for Daniel Humphrey is standing by to heal thine heart.  Serena would hang out and see if you're alright, but she just got a text from the ex-con, so she's gotta scoot.

The captain will never change.  Between being hired and fired by Thorpe Enterprises, Nate's father managed to keep the building key he was supposed to return, along with passwords for all sorts of important docs in the company's system.  You're just asking to go back to jail, aren't cha?  Naturally, Nate and Chuck think it's cool.
