'Good Girls Revolt' Revival Under Consideration
by EG
When Amazon cancelled Good Girls Revolt earlier this year, the move came as quite surprise because of its swiftness. Sources reported that Amazon Studios chief Roy Price hated the show about sexism in the field of journalism, and after Price was fired from Amazon amid allegations that he had sexually harassed women he worked with, there seemed to be an explanation for why he hated the show so much. Now the series' production company is reportedly looking for a new home for a show that is suddenly on the cutting edge of the sexual harassment scandal that is gripping Hollywood.
Good Girls Revolt could be making a comeback.
Sony Pictures Television, whose TriStar Television banner produced the series, is shopping a revival of the 1960s-set feminist drama. A new network is not yet attached as Sony TV is prepping a new pitch for the show. Amazon, which canceled the series mere weeks after its premiered, is also said to be interested as the streaming service/retail giant is now under new leadership.
The news comes a year after Amazon Studios canceled the project from showrunner Dana Calvo. At the time, sources noted that then-head of Amazon Studios Roy Price never watched the first season of the show and was not a fan of its premise.
Price has since resigned from his post after a producer on Amazon's The Man in the High Castle went public with allegations about sexual harassment. Amazon Studios is now under new leadership, with Price and his top lieutenant Joe Lewis out.
Calvo and stars Anna Camp and Genevieve Angelson, among others, started a social media campaign to revive the series following Price's departure. Calvo — who blasted Amazon's decision to drop the show — as well as the cast remain interested in revisiting the series and are said to be available for a potential second season.
In the days after the cancellation, Calvo ripped Amazon, telling The Hollywood Reporter that "they run some people out. What we hadn't factored in is that Roy Price just doesn't care for the show. He's representative of the Amazon culture in that he's just impenetrable."
