Following a 2008 Bonnaroo fiasco, in which Kanye delayed his performance until 4:30 a.m. and disappointed the fans who actually stuck around with a below average set, his Coachella appearance has been applauded for being punctual and also pushing artistic expectations.

Kanye brought a minimum of 20 dancers, who dramatically moved to his songs like a Greek chorus.

The Atlantic called it "a fantastic, provocative, carefully crafted spectacle.”

While the LA Times applauded the shift towards minimalism. His Bonnaroo stage was overloaded with alien-centric props.

"As entertainment, West's set was captivating, a festival performance unlike any other, and one that often showcased the artist and the artist alone on a minimal stage," the LA Times wrote.
