Kanye West likes to sing about toasting “scumbags” and associated company in his single, “Runaway.”
If these lyrics aren’t indicative of Kanye’s new and improved behavior, his recent performance at Coachella was.
Following a 2008 Bonnaroo fiasco, in which Kanye delayed his performance until 4:30 a.m. and disappointed the fans who actually stuck around with a below average set, his Coachella appearance has been applauded for being punctual and also pushing artistic expectations.
Kanye brought a minimum of 20 dancers, who dramatically moved to his songs like a Greek chorus.
The Atlantic called it "a fantastic, provocative, carefully crafted spectacle.”
While the LA Times applauded the shift towards minimalism. His Bonnaroo stage was overloaded with alien-centric props.
"As entertainment, West's set was captivating, a festival performance unlike any other, and one that often showcased the artist and the artist alone on a minimal stage," the LA Times wrote.
