'Glee' Season 4, Episode 13: 'Diva' Recap

Kurt complains about Rachel’s ego, complaining how hard it is to live with her and deal with her and her entourage. He vows to take her down a notch.
Back at school, Emma freaks out about the wedding. Finn asks about their honeymoon, assuming Will wants the Glee club back when he returns. Emma congratulates him on the success of the Glee club, and assures him Will won’t send him away. She suggests the New Directions have a “Diva”-off to prepare for regionals.
The New Directions trash talk each other, and eventually bust out with “Diva” by Beyonce.
In New York, Kurt confronts Rachel about her ego. They argue about who is a better singer, and Kurt challenges Rachel to a sing-off. Head-to-head. Rachel reminds him about her victory when they had a diva-off before. Kurt says he threw the competition on purpose.
Back at school, Tina gives Blaine a cold-kit to help his incoming cold. He thanks her, wanting to feel his best for the diva-off, hoping to prove to everyone that boys can be divas, too… but singing Freddie Mercury. He performs his rendition of “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen.
Finn and Emma bring in Santana to sing “Nutbush City Limits” by Ike and Tina Turner to show the students what a real diva is.
Santana shows off her new girlfriend, Elaine, angry that Brittany never told her she was dating Sam.
In New York, Rachel’s entourage gossip about Kurt, when he overhears, reassuring them all that he’ll win against Rachel.
Back at school, Finn goes to Emma about his heartbreak regarding Rachel. He can’t get over her. Emma suggests he find someone else and move on. He thanks her, and she asks him to help pick out centerpieces. During the choosing, he gives a lingering glance, obviously having conflicted feelings about her.
Santana confronts Sam, telling him he has no chance with Brittany. She vows to win her back. He says he won’t let her go without a fight. So they have a sing-off. “Make No Mistakes (She’s Mine)” by Barbra Streisand and Kim Carnes.
Sam tells her to let her go, because he’s the best thing for her. She refuses.
Tina wanders the halls, doting on her love from Blaine. He’s full-blown sick now, and she gets him vaporub. She’s sad because she doesn’t think she can be a diva, but Blaine reassures her. He tells her to come over that night, and he’ll find her the perfect song.
At Blaine’s house, Tina asks if he’s even been with a girl. He hasn’t, but it’s not because he doesn’t like girls, he just can’t “like” them, physically. This gives Tina hope, because they’re still young and can change. Tina dopes him with cold meds. As he’s falling asleep, she spills her heart to him, but he hears none of it. She straddles him and rubs vaporub all over his chest, crying because she can never have him.
In New York, the sing-off is about to begin. They go over the rules, and say the crowd is the judge.
“This is not a performance. This is a blood sport.”
Rachel and Kurt face each other and sing “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables.
Kurt wins.
Back at school, Santana visits Sue. Sue offers her a job to coach the Cheerios.
In the hall, Tina confronts Blaine, who magically feels better. She isn’t happy in her unrequited love. She sing “Hung Up” by Madonna to vent her frustrations, finally getting over Blaine.
In New York, Rachel’s entourage jumps ship and fawn over Kurt. He tells them off. He tries to talk to Rachel, but she’s feeling defeated.
Tina is declared the top Diva, and the winner of the Diva-off.
Blaine congratulates Tina for her win. And apologizes for being so ungrateful to her. He asks her to be his date to Will and Emma’s wedding, and she accepts.
In New York, Kurt tells Rachel he signed them up for “Funny Girl” auditions. She doesn’t want to go. In the event she gets cast, she doesn’t want to become a diva. Kurt tells her she’s a diva either way, and she needs to embrace it and do her best.
In Emma’s office, Emma is panicking about the centerpieces to Finn, fearing Will didn’t like them. She breaks down, being scared to get married and failing again. To calm her down, Finn kisses her on the lips… and leaves the moment he realizes what he did.
On the stage, Brittany tells Santana she’s not going to break up with Sam. Santana said she didn’t want them to break-up, but that she should aim higher than Sam. Brittany says she knows that Santana dropped out of school, and that she needs to follow her dreams. In New York.
She sings “Girl On Fire” by Alicia Keys.
She arrives in New York, finally happy. She knocks on Kurt and Rachel’s door, and invites herself to stay, shocking them both.
