'Glee' Season 4's New Characters: Puck's Little Bro and Others
by Andy NeuenschwanderWhat will the future hold for "Glee?" The season 3 finale left a lot of questions unanswered, the biggest of which is how the show is going to handle having its characters spread across three or more different cities while maintaining some sense of narrative order.
Casting for "Glee" season 4 is starting, though, so we can at least get an idea of how many new characters we will be dealing with. After all, if half the cast is going to New York or Los Angeles while the other half is staying in Ohio, "Glee" will want to add some new characters for those depleted groups to interact with.
The most recent casting notice reveals that there will be at least three new series regulars in the fourth season, in addition to whomever the show picks up from "The Glee Project," which is currently under way.
The most detailed role is that of Puck's younger brother. The role calls for someone who plays guitar and sings well, to play around 16 years old. It's odd that we wouldn't have seen Puck's little bro around if he's 16 already, but there's probably an explanation for that. In any case, that likely adds another member to New Directions.
New Directions will likely be adding another female member as well, as the casting notice calls for another 16-year-old who can sing to be a series regular. Interestingly, the show is looking for actors 16 and above for these roles, where TV shows usually look to cast those over 18 for labor law reasons. It could be that the added youth is for these characters to actually play around 13-14, to pass as high school freshmen.
The final role in the breakdown calls for a male actor to play mid-20's, for a series regular role. Considering the age, that's likely to be a character in New York. Could it be one of Rachel's fellow NYADA students?
"Glee" also released a season 4 promo, which doesn't feature any new footage but does ask a lot of questions. Watch it below:
