'Glee' Preview Clip: The 'Call Me Maybe' Cover You've Been Waiting For
by Andy Neuenschwander"Glee" is coming back soon, which is music to Gleeks' ears, and also music to "Glee" haters' ears, though in the second case it's horrible, obnoxious music. It's kind of like how those who love Carly Rae Jepsen's ultra-catchy summer hit "Call Me Maybe" really love it, while haters really hate it.
So if you're a hater, you probably don't want to watch this one.
We learned a while back that "Call Me Maybe" was going to be on the "Glee" playlist this season, which stirred within us feelings of both curiosity and dread. Here's the interesting thing: "Glee" tends to take pop songs and make them even poppier, such as the cleaned-up, watered-down version of "Somebody That I Used To Know" that they did. So what will happen when "Glee" takes the poppiest of pop songs and covers it?
This. This is what happens. There's nothing particularly special about the performance, except that you have the talent of Darren Criss, Heather Morris, Jenna Ushkowitz and the other New Directions kids singing it instead of Jepsen. It would have been cool to see "Glee" attempt some kind of mash-up with the song... hey, everyone else is doing it.
Regardless, here's the ultra-happy "Glee" cover of the ultra-catchy "Call Me Maybe." I love/hate this season already. Enjoy having the song in your head for the rest of the day!
