'Glee' Goes to Rehab: Cory Monteith Checks In

'Glee' Goes to Rehab: Cory Monteith Checks In It may seem like an April Fool’s joke, but it’s unfortunately true news—handsome, clean-cut Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on FOX’s “Glee,” is voluntarily entering rehab.

His publicist announced the news today, and said that Monteith “asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps toward recovery.”

No details exist yet on what Monteith is seeking treatment for beyond “substance addiction.”

It isn’t the star’s first struggle with drugs. In a 2011 interview he revealed that at 19 he was treated for addictions, and would take “anything and everything.” Monteith admitted he was “lucky to be alive.”

“Glee” is currently in the midst of shooting its fourth season so Finn Hudson will more than likely be absent from the show’s final episodes later this season.

However, “Glee” cast members and the FOX network have come forward with support for Monteith’s decision, so don’t fear too much for the future of Finn Hudson.

Lea Michele, who plays Monteith’s girlfriend both on and off the screen, issued a statement wherein she says “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”

"Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment," 20th Century Fox TV also said in a statement. "Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."

Best of luck to Monteith! Here’s hoping that he took the first (brave) step toward a healthy future!
