'Glee' Casts American Idol Jessica Sanchez and Maybe Bette Midler?
by Andy NeuenschwanderGood news for Gleeks young and old, as each age group is about to get a guest star that's perfect for their demographic. Translation: big voices are coming to "Glee."
The first big name is a confirmed one: Jessica Sanchez of "American Idol" will be joining the cast in some capacity. Considering the "Idol" finalist's age, chances are pretty good that she'll show up on the high school side of the story, and not on the New York side.
We might be able to speculate more once we know how long Sanchez will be on the show. If she has a longer arc, she might be a McKinley High student and a potential member of New Directions; if she has a shorter arc, she might be a member of a rival glee club, there to provide some competition for the McKinley kids.
Murphy managed to get himself another big guest star, too; in fact, he landed a legend. Murphy was at a charity function and asked Bette Midler to make an appearance on "Glee," and later tweeted the result:
Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting...who should she play?

Of course that's only a verbal commitment on Midler's part, and scheduling and script concerns can always get in the way. But Murphy seems pretty convincing when he's set on landing a guest star, so you may well be seeing Midler in a future episode, Gleeks!
