'Glee' Cast Won't Hit The Road In 2012

'Glee' Cast Won't Hit The Road In 2012 It might've been a big part of the "Glee" franchise's lucrative 2011, but a full-fledged live tour just isn't happening this year, according to the latest from Billboard.

The 2011 live concert tour featuring the FOX hit's New Directions of McKinley High cast brought home $40.85 million dollars and spawned "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie," which itself brought home $18.7 million in a two-week August 2011 limited release. That all being true, the cast and producers will instead produce a one-night benefit concert at the Hollywood Bowl benefiting "Glee" Give A Note." Inspired by "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and launched by FOX TV in association with the Give A Note Foundation, the charity helps pump funds into under-funded public school music programs.

Tour plans had recently been "up in the air," Billboard reports. The 2010 and 2011 tours might've brought home some bacon, but they also reportedly cut severely into the cast's battery-recharge time between seasons.

"Glee" Give A Note has proven itself to be a boon to music education programs, often among the first that cash-strapped school districts consider cutting when desperate fiscal times start calling for desperate measures. This past December, the "Glee" campaign donated $1 million total to 73 nationwide schools that campaigned for funds. "Glee" Give A Note also received $1 from every purchase of "Glee: The Complete Second Season" following its release on DVD and Blu-ray last year.

"We have been talking about continuing our work on a next phase of 'Glee' Give A Note, but no definite projects were discussed," said Give A Note COO Jane Balek.
