'Glee' to Call It Quits

'Glee' to Call It Quits "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has announced that he will end the series after next season. TVLine reports that Murphy made the announcement during an event honoring the FX Networks. Murphy added that Cory Monteith's death forced him to reconsider the way the series would end, since the ending that Murphy had previously envisioned included Monteith.

"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” Muprhy said. “I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was; he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now."

Murphy says, however, that he has a new idea for the end of the series that he thinks is "very satisfactory" and which will specifically honor Monteith, and he plans to deliver that idea to Fox next week. In the meantime, "Glee" will continue through the current season 5 and next year's season 6; an episode which acknowledged the death of Monteith's character, Finn, aired last week.
