'Girl Meets World' Gets a Full-Season Order - Well Before its Premiere
by Shannon KeirnanIt may not even have hit the air yet, but Disney clearly has faith in the success of its upcoming "Boy Meets World" sequel.
"Girl Meets World," which is expected to premiere later this year, has already been picked up for a full season.
Maybe that's no surprise to those following the "Girl Meets World" news - the show has been wildly anticipated since its creation was announced last year, with excitement on all ends (fans of the original series have shown up in full-force to support a revivial of the good-natured show, and DVD releases have brought in new fans from the younger generations).
"Got the great news tonight that #GirlMeetsWorld was picked up for 8 more episodes - a total of 21! Can't wait for everyone to see them all," Danielle Fishel tweeted on Tuesday. Fishel, who appeared in the original series as quirky young Topanga, will be returning as the mother of main character Riley Matthews. Topanga is now the owner of a hang-out join specializing in pudding.
Returning alongside Fishel is Ben Savage, who played Cory in the original series and will now portray his character as the father of Riley, as well as the history class teacher for his daughter and her best friend, Maya (played by Sabrina Carpenter).
