'Girl Meets World' Adds Another Main Character to the Cast
by Shannon KeirnanGuys, Danielle Fishel has an announcement to make.
“I have an announcement to make,” the bubbly lady said on her Twitter account. “I have a gorgeous daughter (@rowblanchard) and a handsome son (@teohalm). @BenSavage and I love you both!”
If the statement is a bit confusing, you may be one of the few of you remaining who don’t know there is a “Boy Meets World” follow-up in the works, and that Fishel was using that Twitter moment to announce that “Girl Meets World,” which will follow original “BMW” characters Cory and Topanga’s daughter, has also cast their son.
Who is the lucky boy? 13-year-old Teo Halm, who will play Elliot, older brother to main character Riley (recently cast Rowan Blanchard).
Elliot is described as “good hearted except for his dedication toward using Riley as his wrestling practice dummy.”
Fishel added, of the casting choices, “If having real children is as hard as finding these two beauties (@rowblanchard & @teohalm) then I think I’m happy with being a TV mom. Ppl will be mad at me 4 saying this but whatevs. We worked so hard to find the perfect kids. We found them. I love them already. Get ready.”
On-screen father Ben Savage joined in welcoming Halm.
“Can’t believe I have a son… Welcome to the Matthews family @TeoHalm. #GMW.”
Also joining the cast is Sabrina Carpenter as Riley’s best friend (Shawn Hunter-style), Maya Fox.
“Girl Meets World” will pick up with Cory and Topanga Matthews, now married. Cory has apparently followed in the footsteps of Mr. Feeny and become a school teacher.
Production begins this month, and the show is set to air on the Disney Channel later this year.
