'Gilmore Girls' Marathon to Usher in Revival

The day after Thanksgiving will be the biggest day of the year for fans of Gilmore Girls, but one cable network is planning to give those fans a whole week to look forward to. The UP network is planning to air every single episode of the series during Thanksgiving week, ending the marathon just in time for the debut of the series' revival on Netflix.

The family-oriented UP network already has the rights to air reruns of the series, but in anticipation of Netflix's new four-episode revival miniseries, UP will air all seven seasons of the original series in their entirety, back to back. The marathon will begin with the first episode of season one at 6pm on Friday, November 18, and conclude with the final episode of season seven at 3am on Friday, November 25.

That timing means that fans who want to watch the whole thing will miss the debut of the revival by a few hours; Netflix will begin streaming its new episodes at 12:01 am on November 25. Of course, all seven seasons of the original series are already available for streaming on Netflix, so viewers can already create their own on-demand marathon if they want to. UP's airing of the series the old fashioned way, though, ties in nicely with the nostalgia surrounding the return of the series.

Gilmore Girls originally ran from 2000 to 2007 on The WB and The CW. It starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, both of whom will also star in the Netflix revival.
