Gary Oldman in Talks For 'Star Wars: Episode VII'

Will the great Gary Oldman add one more major movie to his credentials? The British-born "Harry Potter" actor has revealed he is in talks about appearing in J.J. Abram's upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII."

"They've called," Oldman says. "You know, I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done but yeah, they've inquired. I mean, 'Planet of the Apes,' 'Harry Potter,' 'Batman,' and 'Star Wars...' Bloody hell!"

Oldman isn't the only major name linked to the film. Dame Judi Dench is reported to be appearing, with Saoirse Ronan and Michael B. Jordan announcing they have auditioned.

"Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch has also been linked to the project, and Zac Efron recently announced that he too has held preliminary talks with the producers of the film.

Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford will also reprise their roles from the original "Star Wars" films, as Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo.

Shooting for the film will begin later this year at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Fans have a long wait, however.

The film is expected to open in December of 2015.
