'Game of Thrones' 'Mockingbird,' Tyrion's New Champion, and Another Character Bites the Dust Recap

'Game of Thrones' 'Mockingbird,' Tyrion's New Champion, and Another Character Bites the Dust Recap Could this have been the most satisfying episode of "Game of Thrones" yet? The deaths were all in the right places, good things happened to our favorite characters...there's so much good stuff happening, it's almost unnerving.

Here's what happened this week on "Game of Thrones" by location:

Meereen

That Daario Naharis. So suave. So handsome. So good at climbing in through windows.

The sellsword made his move on Danaerys (again), and this time it worked. Dany told Daario to "do what you do best" and ordered him to disrobe and get freaky.

That was rough on poor Jorah, who caught Daario leaving Dany's quarters in the early morning. So maybe he was a little happy to hear that Dany had sent Daario and his Second Sons to take back Younkai, this time deciding to have him slaughter all the thousands of Masters who live there.

Jorah convinced her that wasn't the best idea, especially considering the fallout of crucifying all those Masters when Dany took Meereen.

Castle Black

Jon Snow suggests that they flood the gate and let it turn to ice, making the gate harder to breach but also cutting them off from scouting north of the Wall. Jon notes that their gate, no matter how thick the steel, won't stop a giant. Alliser Thorne shuts that idea down.

On the Road

#TrueDetectiveSeasonTwo duo Podrick and Brienne stop in an inn and enjoy some delicious kidney pie, prepared by...Hot Pie! Yes, Arya's chubby friend is back, and he has a LOT to say about kidney pie. Luckily, the subject of Sansa comes up, and Hot Pie tells Brienne about the last time he saw Arya (and gives her another Stark bread to deliver).

Because of Pod's education under Tyrion, he knows that Arya would have likely been taken to the Eyrie by The Hound (correct) and that Sansa would also likely be there (also correct). And Brienne thought she wouldn't need a squire!

Arya and Sandor "The Hound" Clegane run into a bit of trouble, which ends up with Sandor getting injured. When Arya offers to burn the wound to avoid infection, Sandor goes into detail about how his brother, Gregor aka The Mountain, burned his face.

King's Landing

Speaking of The Mountain, he is the champion that Cersei has selected in Tyrion's combat trial. That's bad news for Tyrion, especially considering how his search for a champion is going: He asks Jaime, who reveals that he's practically useless with his left hand, and Bronn, who has been bought out by Cersei, says "I like you, I just like myself more."

But, the reason for Oberyn Martell's presence in King's Landing is revealed: He's here to murder Gregor Clegane for what he did to his sister (namely, kill her children and then rape and murder her), and this is the perfect opportunity.

Ladies and gentlemen, Oberyn is your new champion. And he is here to f*ck sh*t up.

The Eyrie

Sansa continues to not be able to catch a break. First, she slaps Robin in the face when he starts acting like a brat, then Littlefinger kisses her after he starts being all "you're more beautiful than your mother" all creepy-like.

Unfortunately for Sansa, Lyssa sees that kiss and is inches away from throwing Sansa through the moon door to her death. But Petyr steps in and mitigates the situation, swearing to send Sansa away. Then, he promptly shoves Lyssa out the door, killing her.

Was this part of Petyr's plan, or is he just improvising at this point? Check out the behind the scenes video from HBO for a closer look.
