'Game of Thrones' Shocker: Two Major Characters Won't Be in Season 5

'Game of Thrones' Shocker: Two Major Characters Won't Be in Season 5 Somebody's getting a vacation!

Casting news has recently surfaced for "Game of Thrones" season five, but it's the characters that won't be on the show that are making the most news.

Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor on the show, dropped a major casting news bomb in a recent interview, revealing that neither he nor Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark) will be making any appearances in the upcoming fifth season.

Though some of you might assume the worst for Bran and Hodor, don't worry: they're not in any danger of being killed off by George R. R. Martin (yet).

Rather, Bran and Hodor have simply reached the end of their storyline as written in the books. You see, while the rest of the storylines in the show are roughly aligned with the events of the 4th book, the story of the Reed siblings and Bran has gone on all the way to Martin's most recently released book.

If you're caught up, you know that [SPOILERS!] Bran and Hodor ended up at a giant weirwood tree, inside of which was living a mysterious seer known as the Three-Eyed Raven. That's as far as Martin has written those characters, and it looks like HBO will not be taking liberties with making up storylines for Bran until Martin releases his new book.

So, what's Hodor going to do with his vacation? "I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world," he says, referring to his side job as a DJ.

To that, we say, "Hodor."
