'Game of Thrones' Season 2 Casts the King Beyond the Wall

'Game of Thrones' Season 2 Casts the King Beyond the Wall When we last left "Game of Thrones," Jon Snow was in the somewhat lax captivity of the Wildlings, and being taken to see their leader, the King Beyond the Wall. But even with the slew of casting news around Comic-Con, that very important kingly role had not been filled.

A month later, and a month closer to shooting the scenes that actually feature Mance Rayder, that has changed: according to EW, "Game of Thrones" has cast Ciaran Hinds as the oft-talked-about but as of yet unseen Mance Rayder, aka the King Beyond the Wall. Hinds is a veteran actor and no stranger to the heightened dialogue and style of "Game of Thrones," as he previously starred in "Rome." More recently, Hinds has been featured in the miniseries "Political Animals," which is close to completing its run on USA and hoping for a full series renewal.

Hinds joins a large number of new characters for "Game of Thrones" season three, including Edmure Tully, who will be played by Hinds' "Rome" co-star Tobias Menzies. How about that: Caesar and Brutus together again!

You can meet the rest of the new cast members in this video from Comic-Con.

"Game of Thrones" season 3 will premiere on March 31, 2013.
