'Game of Thrones' Creators Working on Lovecraft Fantasy Movie
by EG
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss won't be working in the Star Wars universe, but they might be doing something that will please a certain kind of fantasy fan. The pair are reportedly working on a fantasy movie set in the world of cult author H.P. Lovecraft. Details about the project are sketchy, but read on for all of them.

Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have set at Warner Bros an untitled thriller inspired by Hans Rodionoff’s graphic novel Lovecraft.
Most H.P. Lovecraft movies fall short. Which is surprising since so many movies leverage Lovecraftian elements so well. This is a great team. Fingers crossed. Can’t wait. https://t.co/hrrmV9PYpc#Lovecraft #horror #sanitycheck #cthulu #whenthestarsareright https://t.co/1pdXq02AGf

Set to write the script are Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi, the scribe team behind such films as Aeon Flux, Ride Along and the Karyn Kusama-directed The Invitation and Destroyer. Kusama will be exec producer.
Lemme guess, they're going to remove all that Cthulu fantasy stuff. https://t.co/OdhsveJmKf

The filmmakers are keeping it close to the vest, but I’m told the movie asks a horrifying question: what if H.P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real? Also, the movie will be set in 1920 within the Cthulhu mythos.
