Full-Length 'Doctor Who' Season 8 Trailer Gets Kinda Dark

Full-Length 'Doctor Who' Season 8 Trailer Gets Kinda Dark Things are about to get dark on "Doctor Who" this season.

The first full-length trailer for "Doctor Who" season eight is out, and it looks as though our new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, is going to take us to some dark places.

After some Dalek-style philosophizing, the Doctor speaks his mind: "I'm the Doctor, I've lived for over 2,000 years. I've made many mistakes and it's about time I did something about that."

When Clara asks, "Where are we going?" the Doctor replies, "Into darkness."

There's always a bit of an adjustment phase whenever our dear Doctor regenerates, both for the character and for the fans. The trailer already shows that happening within the show, as Clara frets, "I don't think I know who the Doctor is anymore." In fact, the Doctor himself has to ask her if he's a good man or not.

While the upcoming season might end up being a little darker, if only for a while before the Doctor finds his footing again, there will still be plenty of action. The trailer features some strange new aliens, an explosion or two, and even a dinosaur.

We'll see what happens and how Capaldi takes on the role when "Doctor Who" returns Saturday, August 23 on BBC America.
