'Frozen' Is Coming to Epcot Center at Disney World

If you're a "Frozen" fan, we have some big news for you: pretty soon, you'll be able to go to Arendelle!

"Frozen" is set to get its own attraction in Disney World, but interestingly, the giant theme park isn't placing the new experience in the Disney Princess-friendly Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. Rather, the fictional land of Arendelle will be in Epcot Center.

The attraction will be a new addition to Epcot's World Showcase, a series of small areas around the park's lake that recreate some of the architecture, style and food of various countries around the world. The "Frozen" setup will be in Norway, replacing the decades-old "Maelstrom" ride.

Lest you get up in arms about the fact that Arendelle is a fictional, magical land that's being featured in a recreation of Norway, it should be noted that "Maelstrom" was a water-based ride that featured trolls and other Norwegian lore and folk tales.

"We think these Frozen elements are great complements to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film," said Tom Staggs, who heads up the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts board.

For those who want a "Frozen" experience in the Magic Kingdom too, don't worry: the park will be modifying Cinderella's Castle for the winter season, adding snow and other touches of the "Frozen" kind.

The Epcot attraction will allow fans to meet characters from "Frozen" like Elsa and Anna and will feature other yet-to-be-named details of the movie's setting. A timetable for the attraction's premiere has not yet been announced.
