The 'Friends' Reunion: Jimmy Kimmel Says, Chill Out Critics, Jennifer Aniston was Just Acting Angry
by Shannon KeirnanAh, the "Friends" mini-reunion on "Jimmy Kimmel." It was sassy, it was silly, and frankly, it was too fleeting. Watching Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and Jennifer Aniston reunite in Monica Gellar's kitchen, even for a brief sketch, just seemed right, didn't it?
Well, apparently not to everyone. Audience reaction to the scene was weighed heavily toward disgust with Jennifer Aniston, who seemed "annoyed" and displeased by the situation Kimmel had forced on her.
How could she be so angry and sullen? Wasn't she even HAPPY to see her two good Friends?
According to Jimmy Kimmel (and common sense), everyone needs to just chill out and stop hating on Aniston. She was acting.
"Of course it was acting, we were acting," he told his audience the next night. "The idea was, that I would force Jennifer into this mini 'Friends' reunion, and she pretended to be annoyed by it."
Kimmel reads off a sampling of Internet comments, half (if not more) of which, he notes, seemed convinced that Aniston was being a straight stick-in-the-mud regarding the situation.
"I'm sad, Jennifer Aniston seemed really rude on the 'Jimmy Kimmel Show,'" mourns one watcher.
"She's obviously not happy about it," says another, while a separate fan points out, "She was clearly unprepared for this."
Kimmel's favorite is this gem:
"To everyone saying she was acting, she wasn't. See by her reaction to the song lyrics? Her eyes were not acting, her hand gripping the chair was NOT acting, and most of all notice the other 2 reacting to her - they were clueless as well (not acting up)."
Clueless that they were appearing on a scheduled and scripted appearance? Interesting observation. So the part where they all came back in and took a bow together, that was... ?
"She should probably get an Emmy for that act," Kimmel notes.
