FOX 2012 Upfronts Recap & Fall Schedule: 'Glee' Bound For Thursdays

Much like NBC's upfronts today, the FOX fall-season announcement was low on surprises. But the network's big gun is somewhat of a doozy.

Making way for a four-show block of Tuesday comedies, the network has bumped "Glee" two nights later in the week to knock heads with NBC's own traditional Thursday comedy block, according to The Hollywood Reporter today. The fourth season sees the show not only getting its faithful acquainted with fresh main cast members, but now pairing it at 8 PM ET/PT with "The X Factor" and "American Idol" starting at mid-season. THR likens it to NBC's juxtaposition of "The Voice" and "Smash" on Mondays.

Here's FOX chief Kevin Reilly's new gameplan: "Raising Hope" remains at 8 PM Tuesdays, but now leads in new comedy "Ben And Kate". After that, the Zooey Deschanel hit "New Girl" will be another ace that stays in place, comfortably at 9 PM. It's a prime lead-in for "The Office" alum Mindy Kaling's "The Mindy Project" at 9:30. At mid-season, the lineup will add Scott Foley and Becki Newton's "The Goodwin Games".

Once more, FOX will be hoping that a "Bones" lead-in will have a freshman series jumping off on the right foot. It's staying put at 8 PM on Monday nights, but will now be followed by Jordana Spiro and Zach Gilford starring in "The Mob Doctor" at 9 PM. Kevin Bacon will star in Kevin Williamson's serial killer thriller "The Following" starting at mid-season.

In predictable fashion, the network looks determined to screw its pooch named "Sci-Fi." Fridays - one of the worst nights of the week for TV ratings - will feature the second season of "Touch" at 8 PM, followed by the final season of "Fringe". Then at mid-season, "Hell's Kitchen" returns.
