Fox Moves Forward on 'The Fantastic Four' Reboot
by Zack Wells‘Tis the season for the reboot! Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” is the next to be rebooted. You may remember two films already in the “Fantastic Four” series, “Fantastic Four” released in 2005, and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” released 2007, but they weren’t nerdy enough, apparently.
“The Fantastic Four”, set to be released March 6th, 2015, has received a script polishing from Seth Grahame-Smith, author of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” as well as “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, and the writer for the abysmal “Dark Shadows” remake, directed by Tim Burton. (That news alone has made me lose any and all excitement about this project.)
The reboot is said to focus on the deeper cosmic mythologies featured in the comics, such as the Kree and Skrull alien races, as well as the anti-matter universe, Negative Zone. I am sure that Doctor Doom, one of the most recognizable characters from the comic series, will make an appearance as well.
Relative newcomer Josh Trank is set to direct, and Matthew Vaughn has come on board as the executive producer. Of the two, the only one with any decent experience is Matthew Vaughn, who has the semi-super hero movie “Kick-Ass” and “Kick-Ass 2” under his belt.
As this movie is being handled under the Fox studios, it is safe to assume that you won’t be seeing Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, The Thing, or the Human Torch in any “Avengers” related media, as Marvel/Disney controls that. It’s a shame, really.
Keep your eyes peeled for more “The Fantastic Four” news as we draw nearer and nearer to the release date, March 6th, 2015.
