FOX Casts 'Dexter' Star For Their Upcoming 'Sleepy Hollow'
by Shannon KeirnanFOX has been developing a new pilot based on Washington Irving’s short story, Sleepy Hollow, and Orlando Jones and Katia Winter have just joined the cast.
The show is described as a “modern-day supernatural thriller” based on the legend of the Headless Horseman who haunted Ichabod and Sleepy Hollow in the popular story. Multiple films have been made based on the story, including the enjoyably bad "Sleepy Hollow" starring Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken.
In the show, however, Ichabod will be portrayed as a captain in the Revolutionary War and a former history teacher who finds himself “catapulted to present day Sleepy Hollow, where he’s indicted for the murder of a police officer and forced to prove not only his innocence but make a wary detective believe he’s a traveler from the 18th century.”
Orlando Jones of “MadTV” will be playing said detective, Lt. Frank Williams, a stern professional transferred to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a double homicide.
Katia Winter, formerly Nadia of “Dexter,” will be playing Ichabod Crane’s wife, a nurse in the 37th Regiment in the Revolutionary War. No word on whether she travels forward in time with her husband or remains in the past.
The show will be written and executive produced by “Fringe” staples Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. Creator Phil Iscove will also be penning the script and working as supervising producer. Heather Kadin will executive produce. Brad Anderson will move the pilot, with “Underworld” director Len Wiseman taking the camera.
Wiseman also worked with Orci and Kurtzman in directing the pilot of the “Hawaii Five-O” revival.
What do you think of the concept of “Sleepy Hollow?” Will you tune in for the time-traveling murder mystery?
